Additional Brother Toner Options

While the TN760 is a top seller, if you need another type of toner cartridge, we should have this in stock, and this includes toner cartridges for color laser printers. If you have a color laser printer, you can opt to purchase a set with cyan, magenta, yellow and black or you can purchase colors separately if needed. We also have replacement drum units for many Brother printer models.

Replacement Ink Options

As a consumer, you have several options when purchasing Brother toner cartridges. You can purchase Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) toner cartridges. These are produced by Brother and typically have the highest price tag.

You also have the option of purchasing remanufactured toner cartridges, which are cartridges that are being serviced and refilled with toner. These can be a good, affordable option as long as your trust your supplier. At Premium Toners, any remanufactured toner cartridges that we sell undergo strict quality controls to ensure compatibility with your laser printer.

A third option is to purchase generic replacement toner cartridges, and this also can be much more affordable than purchasing OEM toner cartridges. Again, you need to purchase generic toner cartridges from a trusted supplier, and we never sell any generic or remanufactured toner cartridges without testing the quality. At Premium Toners, each cartridge component, microchip and toner undergo rigorous quality control procedures and each cartridge is system-matched. Each toner cartridge comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, as well.

Another plus to consider when purchasing remanufactured toner cartridges is that this is a much more environmentally-friendly option. At Premium Toners, even our new generic replacement toner cartridges are created using 100% recycled plastics, so with either option, you are choosing a greener alternative than using an OEM toner cartridge.

Many customers are concerned about using remanufactured or generic toner cartridges because they worry that this will void their warranty, and while printer manufacturers want you to think that this is the case, it’s actually illegal for printer manufacturers to void a warranty simply because you choose to buy a generic toner rather than their own OEM options.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act in the United States prohibits manufacturers from voiding their warranty simply because a consumer chose a generic part for machine. For our Canadian customers, provincial Consumer Protection Acts also provide similar warranty protection, so you never need to worry that using a cheaper generic toner cartridge will void your warranty. Of course, it’s important to keep in mind that most Brother printers only offer a limited one-year warranty anyway, so this is truly not a huge concern.

Troubleshooting Tips For Your Brother Printer

While our replacement toner cartridges are fully compatible with Brother toners, it’s still not uncommon to experience a few issues now in them with toner cartridge installation. This can happen whether you use an OEM toner cartridge or one of our replacement toner cartridges, but we have a few tips that can help you solve some common toner issues.

Installation Issues

Typically, the main issue you’ll encounter is your printer failing to recognize the toner cartridge, and there can be several reasons for this issue. We find occasionally that it is simply a matter of not placing the toner cartridge in the correct position or perhaps, with a color printer, a customer accidentally has placed a cyan cartridge where the black or yellow or magenta cartridge is supposed to go. So, first, just ensure that your cartridge is firmly in place and in the correct spot and ensure that you are using the correct toner model for your Brother printer.

In some cases, it can be wise to remove the new toner and place the old toner cartridges back into place, close up the printer and then turn it off and unplug it from the wall. Then reinstall the new cartridges, plug in the printer, turn it on and see if that clears the error message.

Resetting A Toner Cartridge

In some cases, you have to reset the toner cartridge in order to get the cartridge to communicate properly with the printer. For this option, just remove the toner cartridge and reinsert it into the toner slot. Press the “Back” and “Go” buttons on your printer simultaneously and hold them down for a couple of seconds. Then release the buttons and press the “Back” button once more.

At this point, you will see that the printer screen displays “TNR-STR,” so you will want to press the down arrow on your printer until you see “TNR-HC.” Press “OK” and then you should see two options “Reset” next to a down arrow and “Exit” next to an up arrow. Press the down arrow on your machine and then press “OK.” Then close up the cover of your printer and it should show the word “Accepted” on the display.

Cleaning The Corona Wire

Sometimes you will notice an error message such as “Clean Corona Wire” or “Dust on Drum,” and this is usually an easy fix. Remove your drum unit or toner cartridge and identify the blue or green tab on the front of the device. Gently slide this tab from side to side several times, ensuring that the tab returns to its original position before you reinsert the drum or cartridge into your printer.

Just as a side note, a corona wire is a wire found in a laser printer that helps draw the actual toner from the drum cartridge onto your paper. It’s always a good idea to clean the corona wire whenever you replace the toner cartridge.
